What is Uninsured Motorist Coverage?
Lucas Foust:
Hi, this is Lucas Foust from Foust Law Office, and I'm here to answer a quick question. And this quick question is a question that I receive from clients who have been involved in an automobile crash.
Lucas Foust:
This question is, what is uninsured motorist coverage? Well, uninsured motorist coverage is insurance coverage that you purchased when you obtain automobile insurance. This insurance protects you from individuals who do not have insurance who cause injury to you or who damaged your motor vehicle.
Lucas Foust:
How often is this used? Well, anywhere between 10 and 12% of people in the state of Montana drive around on the roads without any insurance at all. As a result, there's about a one in 10 chance if you're involved in an automobile crash that you're going to have to use your own uninsured motorist coverage. To answer this question in more detail and answer any other questions, I encourage you to download our book, Abandoned on the Road: A Guide to Insurance Law in Montana.
